This is an online exhibition of handwritten correspondence, physical images and tactile artefacts between artist Chloe Brenan and curator Ellen O’Connor. The project delves deeply into Chloe’s practice over the course of one year and re-imagines the epistolary mode in a screen format. It draws on legacies of mail and early net art as sites of intimacy, accessibility and resistance across time.

Each letter pair will be released over the course of Autumn 2026, so do pop back to read the next installment.

Chloe Brenan is an Irish artist and filmmaker from rural County Carlow, based between Carlow and Dublin. Working across film, photography, sound, and text, her practice explores the porosity of the body and its indivisibility from its environment. Informed by feminist and new materialist epistemologies, her work engages in close, attentive examinations of the poetic haptics of everyday life and processes at the edge of perception, calling into question boundaries between bodies, environments, intimate spaces, and wider structures of power.

Recent screenings and exhibitions include the traveling programme Desire Lines at The Irish Film Institute, Docs Ireland and Galway Film Fleadh;  Dinamo : Exposure at International Film Festival Rotterdam; Against Stasis at DISSOLUTIONS Film Festival, Dublin (IE); Flights from Reason at Cork International Film Festival, 69th Edition, 2024 (IE); Take Hold at the Centre for Contemporary Art, Derry (NI); Loose Definition (borders, proximity and domestic objects) with ReaRflex at Whammy Analog Media, Los Angeles (US). She was nominated for a residency at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, by Temple Bar Gallery + Studios and Institut Français, and is a recipient of a Markievicz Award for Film as part of the Irish Decade of Centenaries.
